Thea is a trained STOTT PILATESĀ® instructor (Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Chair & Barrels).
She is also certified in Fitness Nutrition, Exercise for the Youth, Elderly & Pregnant Individuals as well as Exercise Prescription for Special Population (Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disease), Ayurvedic Body Massage & a CPR-AED holder.
Certified in yoga therapy & pranayama (science of breathing), Thea has been teaching pre-natal/ post-natal, hatha, ashtanga, yin yoga & yoga for the elderly for two decades.
Certified in Scolio-Pilates 1 & 2, Thea has developed a base for scoliosis specific exercise and movement practice.Thea also has yoga credentials and been teaching yoga since 2003.
Her teaching style is to first cater to the students' needs with a focus on safety, demonstration, alignment & adjustment. It's about having a good time working out together.
A former Business Communications lecturer, she is also a mum to three boys. She started pilates to manage her arthritis and thyroiditis. Pilates gives her a form of empowerment to cope with pain & allergies. She hopes to give others mental clarity & functional mobility through fitness classes.
She set up Inner Yoga studio in 2003 at then Stamford House, now known as Kempinski Hotel. With the arrival of her first child in 2006, she gave private 1-1 classes. Having lived in the USA for two years, she taught yoga at Seaside Yoga Sanctuary in Monterey. She is conversant in English, Chinese & basic Japanese.
Thea completed her MBA in University of Leicester, United Kingdom & Bachelor Degree in Arts (Philosophy & Statistics) in National University of Singapore. 1
In 2017, Thea & her family held a Library on Wheels programme in the countryside of Luang Prabang in Laos where they taught primary school kids how to maintain good oral hygiene, distributed necessities & new storybooks to furnish their library. During the pandemic, Thea volunteered as a delivery driver with TOUCH Meal On Wheels programme to serve lunch to the elderly in Toa Payoh every Friday. She is also a volunteer with Down Syndrome's Association for their events.
